I obtained a MSc in Theoretical Physics at the University of Sofia, Bulgaria (1983) and later a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics at the Institute of Solid State Physics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1988). Since 2004 I'm Doctor of Sciences (D.Sci.) from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
In 1991, 1992 , 1994 and 1997 I joined the theoretical Departments of Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris), the University of Wuerzburg (Germany) , Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain) and Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia, Madrid (Spain), where I am at the moment. For the period 1997-2004 I was elected as Associative Member of the International Center of Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy and later as Senior Associate Member (2006-2011).
My current research interests are related to statistical physics, phase transitions and critical phenomena, finite-size scaling, theoretical foundations of neural networks, spin-glasses and systems out of equilibrium.
Current projects include:
- theoretical foundations of finite-size scaling
- dynamic critical phenomena
- stochastic dynamics in neural networks
- information processing in nonlinear noisy neural networks
- multistate neural networks
- pattern and bump formations in networks
- econophysics
- statistical mechanics of texts
- social dynamics
